About this service

 

Mökkiloma.net (=Cottagevacation.net) is a service where you can rent cottages / villas directly from the owner. Because there are no costly intermediaries, the rental prices are often lower than what you get when you rent a cottage / villa through a travel agent. We (Mökkiloma.net) provide you an easy way to find a cottage you like, but do not rent cottages directly and therefore take no responsibility on any issues involved in the renting process. We also introduce rural travel services in the Rural Tourism section.

1. Searching for cottages in this service

Searching cottages is primarily done through Find a cottage function. There you can choose a starting date and the number of days you want to rent the cottage. Normally only the cottages that are free during the selected dates are shown. Next you can select the place where you want the cottage to be. You can also select how many persons are travelling, and some additional criterias. When you are ready press Search.

When searching cottages if you leave any criteria unselected, it is completely ignored in the search results. For example, if you leave the date empty all the cottages in the area are showed regardless of their booking situation. If there aren't any cottages that qualify all the criterias, the system automatically unselects some criterias. The lodging services of rural travel companies can also be found through Rural Tourism section.

2. Renting a cottage

There are two pages in the cottage presentations: Basic information and Prices and booking information. When you want to see detailed information about the prices and booking situation you need to click on the Booking and prices text on the lefthand menu. 

 

When you want to book the cottage you need to write the starting date and the number of days you want to stay in the cottage in the cells under Booking section of this page. You also have to provide your full contact information. Then press the button: Book the cottage. The owner the cottage or their representative  contacts you later and confirms the booking. Only when you have received the confirmation the cottage is booked for you. If you hear from the owner in two days, you should contact him/her and check the situation of the booking.
